refactor(ui): every function compiles under the React Compiler but VirtualGrid, and react-hooks/refs is on
E32 S4 — the burn-down from 29 skipped functions to 1: - try/finally (26 sites): the cleanup runs after a try/catch; steps that return early moved into their own function (push, the setup wizard's next, the share page's unlock). - A conditional, loop or optional call inside a try skips the function too, and react-hooks/todo does not see it: the value is computed before the try, or the try lives in a module-level helper (config writes, clip queueing, clipboard, frame counts, seekable end, YouTube player times). - The two exhaustive-deps suppressions are gone. useYtProgress takes its per-item snapshot through one effect event, read once when the player is built; PlexPlayer's unmount relies on the leaving-the-item cleanup for the generation bump it duplicated. - What the skips hid: PlexPlayer's 17 render-phase ref writes (useLatest), its tracks popover alias, the loadSession self-reference (declared early, set after commit); PlayerModal's session-position read during render (now where the player starts), navRef/modeRef writes, and a description helper that ran a ref-carrying callback during render (now PlayerDescription); SavedViewsProvider's latest-cfg ref, and its setState in the seed effect (preferSticky now prefers the starred default among same-filter views, so the seed needs no sticky write — test seen red on the old helper). - A store's hook was called `use()`, which the compiler does not know as a hook: inside the newly compiled usePlaylistActions it was memoized, ran on the first render alone, and the playlist rail threw "rendered fewer hooks" on its second render. Renamed to `useValue()` everywhere; the old contract test claimed the call was safe inside any `use…` function, which was false — replaced by a render test that is red under the old name. - PlexPlayer's palette ref was written and never read since the Backspace guard moved to the layer stack: removed. react-hooks/refs is back at error with no exception. The ratchet lists only VirtualGrid (IncompatibleLibrary) and pins both players as compiled. No size or complexity ceiling was raised. |

refactor(ui): the popover engine and every render-phase ref write compile under the React Compiler
E32 S3. The compiler skipped 93 functions; it now skips 29 (try/finally shapes, two suppressions,
VirtualGrid). react-hooks/refs hits 245 -> 31.
- Popover engine: `ref={pop.refs.setReference}` made the compiler treat the whole popover handle as
a ref, so every component holding one was skipped (21 call sites, the engine and its surface
among them). The setter is destructured now; the same for useScrollFade and useReturnFocus.
- Render-phase `ref.current = x` writes moved to `useEffectEvent` where only effects read them,
else to the new `useLatest` (written in a layout effect) / `useStableCallback`.
- FocusSafeButton (under every Button) read the focused element during render; it reads it through
useSyncExternalStore, which React asks on every render instead of a cached memo.
Bugs this surfaced, fixed:
- Combobox: a chip could keep showing its raw id. The label cache was a ref an effect filled after
the render that needed it; it is state merged during render now (test seen RED).
- useUndoable rendered from a ref plus a forced re-render; compiled, that memoizes a stale value.
The history is state now, mirrored in a ref for the stable callbacks.
- ConfigPanel and the saved-views editor re-seeded their drafts in an effect, painting the stale
draft for a frame; both adjust during render against the remembered key.
- Toaster's handover is written after commit instead of during render; a new test pins that the
inherited set is taken once, at the takeover (seen RED on a per-render re-read).
- IssueComposer mutated a ref prop as a one-shot focus token; it is plain state.
- PlexBrowse wrote its info-scroll memory from an effect declared before the ref, past its own
"one writer" rule; the writer comes first now and the effect goes through it.
The compiler ratchet drops to the measured 29 and now also requires FocusSafeButton and the popover
engine to compile.

build(frontend): knip also checks what ships; strict indexing in every project
`npm run knip` now runs a second, --production pass, which asks whether the code that ships uses an export, not just whether anything does. Of the 47 exports only tests reached: - 34 are exported for their test and say so with @internal, naming the test. - 11 were module-private names with a stray `export`. Two of them were not used at all and are deleted. - The unused alreadyReported re-export is gone. Test kits, the e2e suite and the two build-tooling modules are excluded from the production project, each named in knip.jsonc. noUncheckedIndexedAccess is now on for the node and e2e tsconfigs too (0 errors), matching the app project. tsconfig.node.json listed a tailwind.config.js that has not existed since Tailwind 4. That entry is now playwright.config.ts, which the typed lint finds through this project. |

build(frontend): close the lint gaps the E32 audit measured
eslint now also enforces: - the React Compiler diagnostics that `recommended` leaves out (todo, memo-dependencies and ten zero-hit tripwires); - a description on every suppression, and no blanket disables; - no focused or skipped tests (vitest and playwright); - the typed pair no-floating-promises and no-deprecated. Lint also covers e2e/ and the TypeScript build configs, which `eslint .` had been skipping in silence. Every hit is fixed or suppressed inline with a named reason: - The 31 try statements the compiler cannot lower yet carry a suppression until S3 rewrites them. Five other compiler skips were plain fixes: a module counter bumped inside a hook, a ref read in a default parameter, and a local named like the <section> it renders. - The real defects behind floating promises are fixed. ChatDock threw at nobody when the device key store could not be opened. VideoEditor's play() rejection went unhandled. loadYouTubeApi never rejected, so a blocked IFrame API left the player on an empty stage forever; it now fails on a script error or after 15 s, shows its own error with the way out, and lets the next open try again. - MutableRefObject, FormEvent and lucide's deprecated brand icon are replaced. The YouTube glyph now lives in lib/brandIcons. - The lint-probe harness lets its virtual file names into TypeScript's default project, so the contract tests still run the real config. |

feat(ui): E31 S4c — the channel header folds, the Plex pages fill their hero, the player gets a side panel
- Channel page: the banner and identity block fold away once the grid scrolls (ui/scrollFold: folds past 32px only if the page can stay scrolled, unfolds at the very top) and the name rides in the tab row. One Back button in both states keeps its focus; folded at a tablet width the actions wrap instead of pushing the page sideways. - Plex movie and show pages: the TMDB facts over the key crew are the hero's second column (plexDetailAside), the keywords sit under the text; the show page shows them for the first time, with the same three toggles. A collection's hero is sized to its text. - YouTube player, 1280px and wider: the title, channel, actions, description and queue sit in a side panel beside the video, which takes the window's height (1438x809 at 1920x911, was ~1008 wide). The wheel scrolls that panel while it can and turns the volume elsewhere. - DESIGN.md decision log: the keywords' place under the text. |

fix(frontend): four state defects the deep-review found in the E27 S2 sweep
Every one of them is the same shape: a value derived correctly, and a WRITE to the thing it derives from left unattended. Deriving hides a stale value; it does not consume it. PlayerModal — the watch toggle inherited the previous video's auto-watch. Moving the queue-advance sync into render was right for `currentVideoId`, but the same block also synced `status`, and that one had an ordering constraint of its own: useYtProgress's cleanup for the OUTGOING item can still call setWatched(true) near the end of a clip, and cleanups run after the commit. As an effect the sync landed last and corrected it; from render it lands first and the stray write wins. Press Next in the final ten seconds and the NEXT video showed as watched — one click on the toggle then sent onState(next, "new") for an item already new. Fixed by keying the mirror to the id it describes, so a write for another item is ignored rather than displayed, and no ordering has to be argued about at all. ChannelsProvider — a focus-channel intent was masked by the page rather than consumed, and nothing ever cleared it. The manager is a page chunk: it unmounts on every navigation, and its seed effect runs again on each mount, so returning to it re-applied a channel name from earlier in the session over whatever the user had typed since. The consumed marker now lives in the provider, keyed on the token — which also closes the case the old clear-on-leave effect never handled, opening a channel page (that does not change `page` at all). TagFilterChips + ChannelTags x2 — `open = openRaw && hidden > 0` hides the overflow popover when the lane stops overflowing, but floating-ui only reports a close for a real event on a mounted surface, so the raw flag stayed true and the menu came back by itself on the next re-fit — a window resize or the text-size slider is enough, with nobody near it. The flag is now reset in render against the same condition that hides it. Avatar + downloadRow — remembering a failed image BY URL fixed the recycled-row frame but never forgot it, so a transient 429 pinned a channel to its initial for the life of the instance, never re-requesting. The memory is now dropped once `src` moves off it, which keeps both properties. And playerModalHooks' last exhaustive-deps suppression claimed "nothing in the body reads a render value" while reading five. The invariant that is actually load-bearing is that each of them is a per-item snapshot — written down instead. All four fixes are mutation-checked: each new test was seen red, against the fixed line only, naming the real defect. |

refactor(frontend): the shared hooks in lib/ stop lying about their deps (E27 S2)
Ten more suppressions, and React 19 turns out to supply the missing primitive.
useEffectEvent (stable since React 19.2, which S1 brought in) is the canonical answer to the
"bind the listener once, but read the latest values" pattern these hooks were disabling the
checker for. Three of playerModalHooks' four escape hatches become honest dep lists: the
wheel-volume handler, the native-controls handover, and the fullscreen-change sync. The
contract is no longer prose — the compiler enforces it.
The fourth stays, deliberately, and now says why at the site: the YouTube player's lifecycle
effect must run once per video (re-running destroys and rebuilds the iframe), and YT.Player
takes its callbacks as an object literal, which an effect event may not be passed into.
Fixed, not suppressed:
- useDismiss captured onClose when the popover opened, so a caller that re-rendered with a
different handler while it stayed open kept getting the OLD one called. The disabled dep list
asserted the opposite ("read fresh from this run's closure"). Both the handler and the ref
list are read through refs now; three tests, the two that matter mutation-checked.
- usePref wrapped its seed in a useCallback whose dep list had to be excused. useState calls a
lazy initializer exactly once, so the memo was saving nothing; inlined.
- useCardPager clamped an out-of-range page from an effect. Adjusted during render instead —
React discards that pass rather than committing it, so no out-of-range page is ever painted.
- plexPlayerHooks' auto-skip countdown reads its marker from the ref that already existed, so
the dep list names its real inputs. That also made the set-state-in-effect finding go away:
the progress is genuinely timer-driven, and the checker can now see that.
- useUrlMirror and useChipOverflowFit only needed their stable refs listed.
Two test-harness suppressions (a render-phase probe ref, a module-level setState handle) moved
inline with the reason they exist: both exist to observe a hook from outside without changing
what is being measured.
Suppressions 99 -> 89; exhaustive-deps 35 -> 27.

refactor: hook dependencies name everything the hooks read
The 12 react-hooks/exhaustive-deps warnings the gate let through: - ShareDialog and YearFilter built a fresh [] per render while their query loaded, so their memos recomputed on every render; they share one empty list now. - VideoEditor's drag effect called a seek/moveBoundary recreated each render; both are stable callbacks in its deps. - WizardProvider re-checks onboarding on exactly the fields it reads (not the me object, whose 60 s refetch would reopen a closed wizard). - Channels, Feed and PlexPlayer list the stable values they already used. - The player's keydown effect is bound once on purpose (its helpers read refs): said so, with a disable, as the codebase's other deliberate sites do. - dialogFocus and the YouTube player's cleanup read refs React may already have let go of; they use what they captured when the effect ran. |

feat: Settings → Diagnostics, a consented log level and the tab's own log
A user can raise their diagnostics level to Részletes (DEBUG) or Teljes (TRACE) for 24 hours from a new Settings tab, after a consent box that says what is recorded, that the server keeps it and for how long (the instance's own retention), and that it lapses. Alap is the base and needs no consent. - users.diagnostics_level/_until (migration 0087), written only by PUT /api/me/diagnostics, which computes the expiry itself; the demo account cannot raise it. /api/me reports the level in force. - The server logs an elevated user's requests at that level and stores every line of them (logs.LevelGate on the stdout handler and the sink; the root is lowered only while an elevation is active). Teljes adds the redacted query string to the request line. - POST /api/diagnostics/events stores the browser's log as source=web rows: account from the session, body capped while streaming, events/attrs capped, re-redacted, events under the consented level dropped, timestamps clamped, 30 batches a minute, 409 once the level lapsed. - lib/diagnostics.ts applies the level to the tab and streams only what happens after consent, in batches, never its own request lines, with a keepalive flush on pagehide; stops on lapse (its own timer), on withdrawal and on 409. - Detail hooks at DEBUG: which control was clicked (test id, icon, app copy in English — never user text, input values or a link's query), visibility/bfcache/resize, filter changes (lib/filterLog.ts; typed search only at TRACE), player events (lib/mediaLog.ts; media errors are warnings at every level). Offline/online at the base level. - "Saját napló" viewer: live, newest first, level groups with counts, search, row details, copy the filtered events as JSON lines, clear. - Privacy policy and Terms exist in Hungarian and English (a contract test holds both languages to the same sections); the policy now describes the server logs and diagnostic logging, self-service deletion and password sign-in. Fixed on the way: - A sync auth dependency ran logs.set_user on a copied context, so the account never reached a handler's own log lines (measured); a per-request mutable scope carries it now. - The Settings tab rail left a phone no room (clipped labels, buttons over text): below `sm` it is a scrolling row above the content. - PUT /api/me/preferences took a bare dict body; it is a Pydantic model now. |

fix(ui): the palette ranks what you typed, and lib stops leaning on components
Typing "theme" put the channel "The Meltzone Podcast" (matched only through its handle `@themeltzone`) above every "Theme: …" row, and Enter opened the channel — the palette listed matches in pure group order and always highlighted the first one. - CommandPalette ranks each word: label starts with it > elsewhere in the label > only the hint, keywords or group name; an item ranks by its worst word, then the sum. The group order stays fixed, rows are ranked inside each group, and the best row overall starts highlighted. The highlight is held by id and follows the best match until the arrows or the pointer pick a row, so a channel list landing mid-typing no longer shifts it. - A11y: result groups are `role="group"` named by their heading; `aria-expanded` is false with nothing to choose; the listbox stays mounted (hidden) so `aria-controls` never names a missing element, and "Nothing matches" sits outside it; a polite status announces the count once the typing pauses. - `Column`/`FilterMap`/`filterRows`/`isActive` move from `ui/tableHeader` to `lib/tableColumns`, and the player's auto/loop modes from `playerModalControls` to `lib/playerModes` — three lib helpers imported the column contract from a ui component, and `playerModalHooks` its types from a feature component. - eslint: `lib/` may not import from `components/` at any depth, type-only and re-exports included; the boundary contract test proves it fires. CLAUDE.md and the ui README say so. - keymap: `dispatch`'s docblock sat stacked on `matchesShortcut`'s; moved onto `dispatch`. |

fix(player): the YT progress checkpoint reaches the cache, so a reopen cannot rewind it
The player checkpointed every 5s and the server stored it, but nothing wrote the new position back into react-query: the close path only marked qk.feed() stale with refetchType "none", and nothing refetches the feed until it remounts (staleTime 30s, refetchOnWindowFocus off). So the resume read the position the cache had been FETCHED with, and the next checkpoint then persisted that older value over the newer one. Measured on localdev: played to 830s, closed (server had 830), reopened the same card without a reload -> the row was back to 751s. 79 seconds of progress destroyed by a reopen, and the card's progress bar never moved either. The Plex player already solved this for its detail query, with a comment describing the identical failure; this is the feed-side twin that was missed in that sweep. patchCachedProgress writes the position the SERVER stored (the endpoint clears trivially-early and near-finished checkpoints to 0, so mirroring our own reading would disagree with the row) into every cached feed page and playlist detail, keeping array identity where nothing changed. A session map covers the second half: the launch queue is frozen at mount, so stepping next->prev back to an item played earlier in the same session resumed from that snapshot. Verified in the browser: 811 -> close 816 -> reopen 825, and the card now shows Continue/Restart. |

fix(player): remove the leaked window "blur" listener in useNativeControlsYield
The native-controls-yield effect registered addEventListener("blur", onBlur) but its
cleanup removed "blur-sm" (a stray Tailwind-class find-replace artifact), so the blur
listener was never removed — leaking one per player open/close. Match the names.

refactor(player): split PlayerModal god-component into hooks + controls (E4 S3)
Mirror the Plex player split (plexPlayerHooks.ts / plexPlayerControls.tsx). The shell
keeps owning the shared refs and passes them into each hook; the once-bound keyboard
handler + layer-stack registration stay in the shell (they orchestrate every cluster).
Behaviour-preserving code-motion — PlayerModal 1332 -> 890 lines.
New lib/playerModalHooks.ts:
- useYtVolume (per-account wheel/arrow volume, on shared playerVolume.ts)
- useNativeControlsYield (iframe-focus overlay yield)
- useYtBigView (F-maximise + our true-fullscreen; YT-specific, not Plex's useFullscreen)
- useYtProgress (player create + resume + 5s checkpoint + auto-watch + auto-advance)
New components/playerModalControls.tsx: PlayerTransportControls (moved as-is) + the
AutoMode/LoopMode types.
Self-E2E (localdev): play a feed video -> plays; transport bar (Auto/Loop); wheel volume
persists ({"volume":100}); F maximises + docked bar; exit big view; Close destroys the
player. Gate green: typecheck, knip, eslint (0 err), prettier, 247 vitest.
Noted a pre-existing bug (kept byte-identical here, flagged separately): the native-yield
effect removes a "blur-sm" listener but adds "blur" — the blur listener leaks.
