The reason for a disabled menu row lived in a `title` on a natively disabled
button: no pointer events, so no tooltip, and roving focus skips the row —
four translated sentences reached nobody (the Watch later rename/delete
lock, "no other list to move to", the reorder gate). An aria-disabled row was
tried and reverted in E10's review. ActionMenu items now take a `note`,
rendered as a muted line under a disabled row's label: seen, and readable in
a screen reader's browse mode. Only the icon and label dim — row-level
opacity would dim the explanation too. The reorder group states its reason
once, under its first row.
The pxBox contract test held the literal w-[150px] it probes, which the new
lint rule refuses, and stickyTop's test used Array.at, outside the tsconfig
lib. Both landed because a local lane check piped its exit code into tail.
- "A page with a sticky ColumnHead must declare fadeTop: false" lived in
prose: a registry flag on three pages plus an App special case for the
Channels card layout, and the next table page would have re-acquired the
fade-on-the-header defect with every lane green. ColumnHead now registers
itself with the enclosing PageScroller (ui/stickyTop) while mounted; the
registry flag, the App branch and the prop plumbing are gone. Measured on
localdev: the top mask is 0px under Channels' and Audit's headers, 20px on
Home and the Feed.
- ui/DataTable mounted its table AND its card list at every width, one
hidden by CSS: double DOM and render cost, duplicate ids, two keyboard
copies of every row. It now mounts the one the `md` media query calls for
(lib/useMediaQuery); the keyboard test asserts one layout at each width.
- The Plex module's content width went px → rem with the rest of the page.
- PriorityStepper labelled itself with channels.row.* and told every caller
it orders the Feed; Combobox said plex.loading / plex.filter.moreRefine /
sidebar.match on the feed sidebar. The generic strings moved to common.*,
and what a priority MEANS arrives as the stepper's `hint` prop.
uiI18n.contract.test.ts pins components/ui/ to the platform namespaces —
the import boundary could never see an i18n key.
- 32 px-frozen box utilities (w-[150px], max-w-[1600px], left-[18px], …)
became spacing-scale steps (w-37.5, max-w-400, left-4.5): identical at the
default text size, and now they grow with the Settings slider instead of
clipping or re-wrapping their own labels. An eslint rule refuses the px
form beside the older text-[Npx] one, pinned by pxBox.contract.test.ts;
measured in the browser that every new step is generated at its old px.
- chipLane's import-strip regex ran past a side-effect import into the next
statement's `from`, hiding a lane between them; it now stops at the
import's own `;`.
- Home's rail handed each card a fresh `() => menu.triggerProps(c)` per
render, defeating memo(VideoCard) on every tile whenever the menu's own
state changed. `useItemTriggers` (ui/useContextMenu) keeps one trigger per
item, index-aligned; tested for identity across renders.
- The Button accessible-name union had one hole: `<Button icon={…} />` with
no children and no size typechecked into a nameless button. A textful
button now needs children or a name; pinned with @ts-expect-error.
- comfortPin's header said the pin belongs "on every card and row", which
the code never meant (an episode, a season, a person are not pin kinds).
It now says what is pinnable — and the show page's Related strip, whose
shows ARE pinnable, gets the pin menu it was missing (and a rem width).
- gridColumns / feedView / VirtualGrid claimed layouts 1024–2560 are
"byte-identical" under the column cap; the small cards are capped at 2560
with the filter rail collapsed. The comments say so.
~150 HTTPExceptions carried a hand-written English sentence as their detail,
shown verbatim under the Hungarian UI — in the blocking error dialog and on
every inline surface that printed HttpError.detail (sign-in, setup wizard,
change password, the passphrase gate, live search). Four also quoted an
upstream exception's text back to the user.
- app/refusal.py: `refused(status, reason, **params)` → {code: "refused",
reason, …params}; localizeDetail translates errors.refused.<reason> with the
params interpolated. "Unknown X" 404s use the existing not_found(what).
- sysconfig.set_value raises InvalidSetting (reason + bounds) instead of an
English ValueError; the three writers answer it through setting_refused.
- The Plex connection/write/image failures log what the upstream said and
answer a reason; the search scraper's failure is logged and answered as
youtube/unavailable (it crashed refusal_reason before).
- HttpError.detail now only ever holds a translated reason: a string detail
(only the framework's own can remain) is left out, so reading .detail is
safe everywhere — including destructured, the hole the raw-detail source
scan could not see. That scan and its five-file exception list are gone.
- Enforced: test_http_details.py fails on any HTTPException with a sentence
for a detail; the contract test requires every refused reason and every
not_found "what" in both languages, and no key for one that is gone.
- local/jsx-comment-text: a // inside JSX children renders as text; the rule
is ten lines in eslint.config.js rather than eslint-plugin-react's ~1800
lockfile lines.
HLS sessions were keyed by the item, so a second account opening the same
film killed the first one's session; the displaced player reclaimed at its
playhead and evicted the other in turn. The registry is now keyed by
(viewer, rating_key), segment requests resolve by both, and the session
directory carries the viewer (the orphan sweep still recognises the older
shapes).
Only transcodes counted toward a cap, so remuxes — each a whole segmented
copy of the film on the scratch volume — were bounded by the library size.
Three bounds now apply after every start, each dropping the least recently
used: two sessions per account, the transcode cap, and a new admin knob,
plex_max_sessions (default 8), over every session. A superseded session
request returns at once, since it waits on the killed ffmpeg, so an account
cannot park more request workers than it may hold sessions.
The subtitle extractor's full-pass slots were global and minutes long each;
one account opening subtitles on film after film could hold them all. An
account may now hold three of the six, and still gets windows past that.
The house guard requires a silent handler to carry a silent-ok note; the
savepoint fallback added in e74986cc did not, and the gate's pytest lane
caught it.
A full pass that ran out of time kept what it reached, but its retry an hour
later started again at 0, so a file too big to read inside the extraction
timeout never completed. The pass now starts where every embedded track's
coverage from the head ends (less the window pre-roll, so a cue across the
join is read whole). The seek needs -avoid_negative_ts on this read as on a
window, measured on a real file: without it the cue running at the start
shifts the whole output.
A partial track whose full pass had failed never reached a settled state, so
the player polled it every 2 s for the rest of the film. The status now says
whether the track is still growing, and a stalled one is polled every 15 s —
still inside the 60 s lookahead that reads the next window before an edge.
The comfort shelf resolved each pinned channel with three queries (the
row, its unwatched count, its newest video) and each playlist with two.
channels_summary gets the count and the newest row per channel as window
functions over one filtered set, playlists_summary reads every pinned list
in one query, and the rows come in one IN() each — so the shelf's cost no
longer grows with its length. A test counts the statements.
RAIL_LIMIT had two definitions held in step by a comment; the Plex Discover
route now imports the domain's. And rollup's "continue the latest-started
episode" was false: it takes the last in-progress one in broadcast order,
which is also what Home's next_episode picks.
move_item checked "already in the target?" and then re-parented without a
lock, so a second tab's add or the scheduler's YouTube merge committing the
same video in between hit uq_playlist_video and answered a raw 500. The
re-parent now runs in a savepoint and a conflict falls back to the
already-present outcome. The target is touched only when the row landed in
it (an untouched list was promoted in the rail's "recently changed" sort),
and _touch stamps the database clock like the mixin's own onupdate.
The canonical-patterns table names owned_or_404 against ad-hoc ownership
helpers; six were left (_own_playlist, _own_playlist_or_404, _own_view,
_own_tag, notifications._owned, downloads._own_job), two of them
hand-rolled with a bare English 404. All call sites now use owned_or_404,
and the download/link/notification 404s are structured like the rest. The
contract test reads every "what is gone" the routes name, and the YouTube
refusal reasons, and requires both languages to name each.
The rollback of a refused watched mark guarded against Plex's REPORTED
duration. On a file shorter than its metadata the end sits outside the
finish margin, so playing to the end and having the mark refused stored the
very end as a resume point on an unwatched row: a ~99% bar that reopened in
the last seconds. The media's own ended flag now decides.
Two near-end checkpoints arrive together routinely (the 10 s tick and the
debounced seeked flush); both read "not watched" before writing and both
scrobbled, bumping Plex's viewCount twice. The transition is now decided by
the write: an insert that did not conflict, or an update conditional on the
old status.
The finish also popped the push-ordering entry that _resume_push_superseded
reads, so an older resume push still in flight could land at Plex after the
scrobble and revive a resume point on a watched item. It now stamps the
entry instead; the existing eviction bounds the map.
The two manual syncs (subscriptions import, playlist pull) had no YouTubeError
handler, so a quota, token or transport failure was a raw 500 and the blocking
"Server error" dialog (E9 F1). The other YouTube routes answered either the
upstream's English or a playlist-scoped "youtube_failed".
One helper, routes/_common.youtube_refusal: 422 {code: "youtube", reason} with
the reason sorted by what the user can do — quota (wait for the reset),
reconnect (the token step refused), unavailable (retry). Used by every route
that surfaces a YouTube failure; localizeDetail translates it.
"Reconnect" had no path: a grant Google revoked still read as granted, so
Settings and the wizard offered no connect button while every call failed.
An invalid_grant from the token endpoint now clears the stored grant.
A failed connection or token step answered nothing about the channel, yet stamped it: one proxy blip
during an RSS blackout delayed every due channel by a whole window. YouTubeError now names the
endpoint that answered; a failure no endpoint gave, or a spent quota, ends the round and stamps
nothing.
The card menu's reset read 'Clear watch progress' but also un-hides and un-watches; it now says so.
The resettable rule, the demo-first role key and the display-name fallback each lived in several
components tied by comments; they are shared helpers now, and the menu reuses the card's own
strings instead of duplicate keys.
The query read the typing-debounced search, so for 300 ms after a jump it mixed the new view's
filters with the old view's text and fetched rows neither view shows. useDebounced takes a settle key
whose change applies the value immediately.
Restoring by name picked the first item of that name, so Back on the log console (repeated
http.request lines) or two same-titled downloads landed on the wrong one. The saved place wins while
it still holds the name; otherwise the nearest item of that name.
A channel whose uploads playlist also failed was never stamped, so a terminated channel was charged
again on every 20-minute poll instead of once per rss_fallback_hours. An upstream quotaExceeded now
stops the round instead of charging every remaining channel the same refusal.
An INFO line outside a request never reaches log_events, so the fallback's
own summary was invisible in the Server log. Its counts ride on the
sync.rss.failed warning, the one line of a poll the console keeps.
Measured on localdev: 375 of 375 dark channels read, 403 new videos.
The server now logs polled reads at DEBUG, and the browser's copy of each
request line promises the server's level: at INFO the unread-count polls
filled My log within minutes and, at Detailed, the shipped log. The server
marks a line it logged at DEBUG with X-Log-Quiet, so the polled-route list
stays in one place.
The countdown's clock was the moment Settings mounted, so a level raised
two minutes after opening the page read "24 h 2 m" until the first tick
(measured on prod). The clock is read at render; the interval only
re-renders.
The Feed's chips + Sort + View row did not fit one line at 375px and pushed
the page 21px wide; the toast stack capped its width by the viewport while
it sits right of the sidebar. The toolbar rows (Feed, Plex browse) wrap,
and the toasts are capped by their host.
Settings → Account names the latest sign-in on any device (only the
admin's user list did, though the 0.88 notes said otherwise), and the role
in the reader's language instead of the raw `user`.
Right-click, long-press or Shift+F10 on a feed card offered only the
comfort-shelf pin; watched, saved, hidden and the progress reset were
reachable only by hovering or Tabbing through every card.
Signed out, the tab read Home's question over the sign-in form; the legal
pages read just "Siftlode". The download field asked only for a YouTube
link although Facebook and the rest download too.
Opening a card left Home, and Back came back to "Doesn't matter" with a
different hero, whose card then dropped out of the Continue rail and moved
the keyboard onto its neighbour. The budget, reroll seed and seen list live
on the history entry now, and a returning list focuses the item by its
name before its place.
Every filter change replaced the history entry, so Back after a request or
job pivot left the console altogether (the 0.90 notes promised otherwise).
A pivot follows a link and is its own entry now; the console reads the
landed entry back on popstate. The other filters still adjust in place.
A tab left open across a release asked for a lazy chunk the server no
longer has (prod: DownloadDialog 404 an hour after 0.89) and fell to the
crash screen. `vite:preloadError` now reloads the tab once a minute at
most; a second failure is let through to the error boundary, which now
wraps every entry — the public /watch, /privacy and /terms pages crashed
to a blank page.
The reads the frontend polls (unread counts, /api/me, the download index,
sync status, subtitle progress) are logged at DEBUG: at INFO they were ~95%
of the stored log on prod. A scheduler job failure and a playlist sync
failure carry event codes, and a Google account without a YouTube channel
has an empty playlist list instead of a warning every six hours.
YouTube's RSS goes dark per channel for hours (prod 2026-09-18/19: 393 of
396 feeds answered 404 for four hours, sticky per channel, so a retry does
not help), and nothing else read a followed channel's new uploads. A
channel whose feed has not answered for `rss_fallback_hours` (admin knob,
default 2, 0 = off) now gets one page of its uploads playlist through the
Data API (1 unit), at most once per window, yielding to the backfill
reserve. Spend is attributed to its own quota action.
- "Load older" is not offered off a loading filter's placeholder rows,
whose cursor belongs to the previous filter.
- A failed older page, stale rows and missing counts each get their own
message (HU/EN).
- Live shows as off once a failed read stopped the polling; pressing it
again reads now.
- Live stops polling on a failed read and marks the list as possibly
stale (with Retry), instead of re-raising the error dialog every tick.
- While live, a refetch reads the newest page only, whatever the cache
holds (a late "Load older", a revisited filter set).
- Copy is disabled and the list dimmed while a filter change loads.
- Dates follow the UI language; the pivot chip uses the shared .chip.
- Tests: query-string wire test, Copy, every facet's skip key.
A request that hung for the full timeout says the way out is hanging, not
that the endpoint is flaky; three of them per channel stretched a poll over
a dead egress to about three times its interval.
Both log viewers put their lines in a NavGrid: j/k (and the arrows) step
from line to line, and Enter opens one exactly as a click does (the line's
button is its `data-nav-open`). A focused line is named by its code and
message.
The console's nav entry is "Szervernapló" / "Server log", its page title:
"Diagnosztika" was already the Settings tab that holds the user's own log,
and two places with one name read as one place.
YouTube's feed endpoint answers the same channel with 404, 500 and 200 in
turn: on prod 182, then 296 of 396 channels failed a poll, and a probe of
24 channels saw 15 fail a first request while 16 had succeeded by the
fifth. A channel that failed once waited for the next poll, 20 minutes
later, so new uploads showed up late.
A feed is now tried up to three times (after 1 s and 2 s) on a transport
error, a 404, a 429 or a 5xx; a refusal such as 403 is not retried. The
last failure is what gets counted. A feed that is really gone costs two
more requests per poll.
Admin → Diagnostics reads the server's stored log: one list, newest first,
where a line opens in place to its full record (time, source and logger,
account, request and job ids, version, message, attributes, stack). A
request or job id narrows the list to that request or job with every other
filter off, shown as a removable chip. Filters: level group, source,
account, event, period and a free-text search; all of them live in the URL
(`l*` keys, which setPage clears like the Plex and Channels keys), so a
filtered view is a link and Back restores it. "Live" re-reads the newest
page every few seconds while the tab is visible; paging into older rows
turns it off. Copy puts the loaded lines on the clipboard as JSON lines.
The facet counts now honour every filter but their own, as the feed's do:
a request pivot narrows them, and a picked level does not zero its
siblings. A value in use stays offered even when the counts drop it.
"Saját napló" and the console draw a line with one shared component,
`LogLine`, whose phone layout gives the message its own full-width line
(sharing the code's line left it a few characters). The level groups
moved to lib/log.ts for both.
The console's own reads are logged at DEBUG on success, like the
healthcheck: at INFO its live tail filled the log with itself.
GET /api/admin/logs pages `log_events` newest first on a (ts, id) keyset:
a browser row's ts is clamped into its consent window, so ts alone is not
unique. Filters AND together: level, source, account (or `none`), event
code (or `none`), request id, job id, a free-text search over the
message, code, request id, stack and attributes (typed text is a literal),
and a time window. Each page names the accounts it mentions.
GET /api/admin/logs/facets counts what the filter chips offer over the
window alone, so a chip row does not shrink as filters are picked.
Admin-only and read-only; reading is not audited (the console's live tail
polls). There is deliberately no "ids after N" tail: several processes
write this table and a batch takes its ids at insert, not at commit, so a
tail keyed on ids could pass a row that commits late.
The feed's channel-name match and the live search's term fold built their
LIKE pattern from the typed text as it was, so `_` and `%` acted as
wildcards: `build_log` also matched `buildXlog`. The term fold also tested
a substring, so a term already present inside a longer word (`cat` in
`category`) was never folded into search_terms. It now compares whole
terms, escaped.
`like_escape` moves from the Plex query module to `app.utils`, beside
`to_tsquery_str`, and every pattern built from typed text goes through it.
- The download and edit failure lines go back after their DB write: a job the
write could not fail is not a failed job, and the worker's child_exit line
already says it failed.
- The download child's runner is the last stop before Python's hook: an
escaping exception is one download.child.failed line with its chain scrubbed,
then exit 1, instead of a raw stderr traceback carrying the URL.
- A crash the database will not record carries its stack once, and the
fail-write line has an event code.
- The job's own generic-extractor name is taken out as a literal (formats.hiding),
so brackets and colons in a direct link's file name no longer leak; the
pattern stays as the fallback. `Downloading just the video <id>` is covered.
- Tests: scrubbed_stack's cause, suppress, unprintable and text-format paths,
the image steps' failure kinds, the watchdog error through the real
_fail_running, exact poster/storyboard messages, ffmpeg skip marker.
- A failure keeps its traceback unless it is yt-dlp's or our own StatedFailure (a
message that is the whole story). A plain RuntimeError, RecursionError or OSError
is also what a bug of ours raises, and its stack is the only lead.
- The stack is scrubbed link by link (logs.scrubbed_stack): a chained DownloadError
under a DB error no longer prints yt-dlp's text unscrubbed.
- Engine hide_parameters: a DB error's message no longer carries the title or path
it was writing.
- The download and edit failure lines go out even when their DB write fails.
- The worker's child_exit/crash/supervisor lines say download.job.failed only when
the job failed there; a crash the DB will not record no longer ends the thread.
Stopping a paused child is download.child.stopped, not a second abort.
- log_safe also covers generic ids with spaces, playlist titles and bare ids.
- The ffmpeg image steps log the failure kind, not the argv with its path.
- The consent contract accepts only the body of a plain consented_trace() check,
and any level that may be TRACE.
- Tests for each; every one mutation-checked.
