- A mark on the very end seeks a moment short of it; while a clip is marked the end of the item
neither closes the player nor steps the queue, and Plex's auto-skip waits.
- Plex: Escape and Back peel what is over the picture (info, up-next, the countdown) before the
clip; Back under a dialog is the dialog's; no range opens while the length is unknown.
- YouTube: the focus goes back to the scissors the user can see, else the player; the panel keeps
its name, Loop and focus when the view is maximised or restored under it.
- A typed time stays in its field until taken, then shows where it landed; unreadable stays marked
invalid; a decimal comma is read (ui/TimecodeField, the editor's fields too).
- RangeTrack: a drag is its pointer's, a cancelled drag reports final, an adornment sits beside the
slider, a caller-chosen focus ring (amber on the clip strip). CropFrame: a drag is its pointer's.
- The editor's remove-cut is a real button at the cut's foot; a segment's keep toggle sits over the
cut's hit area.
An optional crop in clip mode: a Crop toggle puts a frame on the picture (free, 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1;
the whole picture stays the default). The frame is sent in fractions of the box it was drawn in,
with that box's shape; the worker fits the real picture into the box by its display aspect (sample
aspect and rotation aware), drops the part over the bars, and crops first in the filter chain. A
frame covering the whole box is no crop at all, and one off the picture is refused by name.
The crop frame is a ui primitive (CropFrame) shared with the video editor, keyboard-operable.
YouTube: the wide side panel shuts while clipping and comes back after; maximised, the clip panel
docks in the stage. Plex: the picture sits above the clip panel so the frame lies on it.
Both players get a scissors in their control row (Plex: the control row; YouTube: the actions and
the docked bar), `c`, and `[` / `]` to mark at the playhead. The clip panel lives in the player, so
the watched video is the preview: an overview of the whole item and a zoomed strip around the
selection whose ends are sliders (arrows step a tenth, Shift a second), Start / End fields with
nudges and "to the playhead", the length, a looping Play selection, a name, Cut. Escape closes the
panel before the player and the focus goes back to the scissors. A cut is a toast with a Downloads
link plus the usual Ready notification.
- ui/RangeTrack + RulerTicks: the shared, domain-free time track (regions, keyboard-steppable
handles with a 1.5rem hit area, a playhead, a background slot, over a window of the item). The
Downloads editor's cuts moved onto it, so they are keyboard-steppable now.
- lib/clipRange holds the marking rules (1 s to 10 min, the server's), lib/timecode the editing
timecode the editor's private tc/parseTc became.
- keymap: a symbol typed through AltGr answers its bare-symbol row - on the HU layout `[` is
AltGr+F, which arrives as Ctrl+Alt; letter and Mod rows still never match Ctrl+Alt.
- The YouTube stage sits in a wrapper with the panel, so the maximised stage's blur escape matches
at any depth.
- media-scope: fields on the always-dark player chrome read white in a light theme too.
Brave on iPadOS switches element fullscreen off, patches requestFullscreen with
a video-only stand-in and fakes fullscreenEnabled, so the Plex fullscreen button
and the YouTube docked bar's did nothing. Support is now read off
Element.prototype and the buttons are left out without it (owner). A stand-in
that returns a boolean no longer throws. A test's bare matchMedia stub no
longer outlives its describe.
On an iPad a drag on the video scrolled the page behind the player, and in Brave
dvh did not follow the toolbar, so a strip of the page showed under it. The
page is now locked without overscroll on a black root while the player is open,
and the player is sized from its fixed box. The time row keeps the position,
the length and the end clock; the countdown is gone (owner).
An item can carry several credits blocks with mid- and post-credit scenes between
them, and Plex flags the one that really ends it. The player left at the first
block. Now the Plex-final block moves on (by the auto-skip or the Skip button), an
earlier block is only skipped to its end by the button, and with no final flag the
last block ends the item by the button alone.
The code cited its plan instead of saying why: `E28 review J4`, `(R6 S3b)`, `S1 justified…`,
`deep-review round 5`. That plan lives in the private ops repo, so for every reader of this one the
citation was noise, and a sentence whose subject was the plan step ("round 2 showed…") hid its
lesson behind an id. Each one is gone and the "why" kept: a bare citation is deleted, a sentence
carrying a lesson is reworded around it ("a later attempt showed…").
Measured (`scripts/audit_metrics.py`, product code): 652 lines in 270 files carried an epic code by
the definition the next commit holds (507 / 241 by the old, two-digit-only one) -> 0. Across all
code, tests, scripts and configs: ~1100 epic-code lines plus ~320 sprint/round ids.
Behaviour unchanged, checked mechanically: every changed .py file has the same AST once docstrings
are blanked; css/sh/toml/yml/json files are identical once comments are stripped; the only
non-comment changes in TS/JS are test titles, one description string in a contract table, and five
ESLint messages, whose text is all the gates snapshot diff holds. Not touched: Markdown (docs and
the changelog keep their history), Alembic migrations, TV episode notation (`S2 · E5`), DESIGN.md
ids (`C1`, `B4`, `S3h`), tracker ids (`SEC-16`, `DX-17`).
One stale claim fixed on the way: test_hls_reaper's docstring said the player checkpoints "every
10 s whether or not it is playing", which plex/stream.py calls wrong; it now says what the code does.
eslint now also enforces:
- the React Compiler diagnostics that `recommended` leaves out (todo,
memo-dependencies and ten zero-hit tripwires);
- a description on every suppression, and no blanket disables;
- no focused or skipped tests (vitest and playwright);
- the typed pair no-floating-promises and no-deprecated.
Lint also covers e2e/ and the TypeScript build configs, which `eslint .`
had been skipping in silence.
Every hit is fixed or suppressed inline with a named reason:
- The 31 try statements the compiler cannot lower yet carry a suppression
until S3 rewrites them. Five other compiler skips were plain fixes:
a module counter bumped inside a hook, a ref read in a default
parameter, and a local named like the <section> it renders.
- The real defects behind floating promises are fixed. ChatDock threw at
nobody when the device key store could not be opened. VideoEditor's
play() rejection went unhandled. loadYouTubeApi never rejected, so a
blocked IFrame API left the player on an empty stage forever; it now
fails on a script error or after 15 s, shows its own error with the
way out, and lets the next open try again.
- MutableRefObject, FormEvent and lucide's deprecated brand icon are
replaced. The YouTube glyph now lives in lib/brandIcons.
- The lint-probe harness lets its virtual file names into TypeScript's
default project, so the contract tests still run the real config.
The repeats of a Space/Enter that landed on faded bands pressed the control once the bands were up;
they are swallowed with it. A play or pause while a session restart is out now sets that session's
intent instead of playing the outgoing stream. Tests: Skip intro outside the bands keeps its keys,
every restore takeover (wheel, finger, scrollbar, key) is covered, and the chip handoff test tells
the chip before from the row's first control.
The same-film restart read the paused state, restarted the session without play, and resumed the
outgoing stream beside it. Space or Enter on a control the bands had faded from pressed it unseen;
now it only brings them back, and Space plays or pauses.
- The info overlay's collection strip listing the film itself: Play/Restart restart or resume it in
place instead of pausing it on a frozen 0:00.
- Up/Down on the closed ⋯ and tracks buttons stay the volume (openOnArrowKey: false).
- A keyboard focus in the bands holds them for 10 s after the last key, not the whole film; a tap
leaving a tapped button no longer re-shows the bands its own toggle then hid.
- Next leaving under the focus hands it to its neighbour (the player keeps its focus).
- The chosen audio / subtitle track wears the MenuCheck tick.
- PlexInfo's collection strip gives each card the related strip's action set: the "…" menu (with
Restart for a touch reader), the watched toggle and the playlist add.
- `onPlayItem` is required, so no variant draws a Play that does nothing; the player's info overlay
plays the sibling in the running player (`go(id, _, fromZero)` for its Restart).
- The stage is sized in dvh (80dvh × 1.25 windowed, 100dvh fullscreen); the viewport-units
contract no longer exempts the player.
- A tap that reveals the bands keeps them pointer-events-none for the double-tap window, so the
second tap of a skip at the bottom is not a seek.
- An arrow on the volume slider wakes the bands, and a keyboard focus in a band holds them
(`holdOnFocus`, `:focus-visible` only, so a clicked button does not pin the bar).
- Next stays mounted (disabled) while the next episode's detail loads, keeping the focus.
They were hand-built divs: no menu roles, no arrow keys, and Escape left the
focus on <body>. Both run on the popover engine now (media-tone rows), and the
tuning panel is a labelled dialog that takes the focus and hands it back to ⋯.
The owner's picks (all the recommended options) become DESIGN.md's Copy
chapter and a sweep of both languages (742 values, no key drift):
- One name per feature: the rail's label, which may shorten it (Alerts
-> Notifications, Fiókok -> Felhasználók, Download Center -> Downloads,
Channel manager -> Channels); one "sync from YouTube" verb.
- Four verbs, four meanings (Delete / Remove / Dismiss / Discard, and
their Hungarian pairs), checked against what each action does.
- Sentence case, the app's places capitalised; "…" on a command that
asks first (a popover or form title got its own key without it);
one-sentence messages without a stop or a tick, "Couldn't …"; curly
quotes.
- Dates only from lib/format.ts, in the UI language: formatDateTime
names the month and stops at the minute (it printed "9/27/2026,
8:30:14 AM"), formatDateTimeSec for the log, the audit and the
recorder; ui/RelativeTime pairs "3d ago" with the exact minute on
hover. local/date-format refuses toLocale*String and Intl date
formatters elsewhere.
- Units from Intl, short (formatUnit): runtimes, totals, the Scheduler
countdown, the stats range, the player's tap skip. "2h 13m" was
English in both languages.
- src/i18n/copyRule.test.ts holds the machine-readable part (quotes,
"...", ticks, bare unit letters).
Plex player: a finger's tap on the picture only shows or hides the controls,
the hide timer starts with playback, a double-tap on a side third skips 10 s,
the seek bar is a 2.75rem touch-none hit area with its head shown on touch.
The row is play/pause, Back by position, Next only with a next item, mute,
time, tracks, a fixed ⋯ (settings, media info, stats, shortcuts, download)
and fullscreen; Stop, Restart and the ±10 s buttons are gone.
A started card shows the video card's Continue + Restart pair (one shared
MediaResumeButtons, beside the picture's button), and its menu lists the
restart; the player opens that item at 0 (fromStart). YouTube modal: the
description opens from an ⓘ, the queue arrows sit inside the screen.
