At elevated zoom the CSS viewport shrinks; a long channel About wanted its fixed
max-h-112 (448px) height, so when floating-ui flipped it above the trigger its
top rendered above the viewport edge, clipped and unreachable (the inner
overflow-y-auto can't scroll past its own top). Enable the popover's fitHeight so
the `size` middleware caps the panel to the available space. Because the surface
splits into an outer positioned element and an inner styled/scroll wrapper, the
middleware now also publishes the available height as a --fit-max-h custom
property the inner scroller consumes via maxHeight: min(28rem, var(--fit-max-h)),
keeping the 28rem design cap on a tall viewport and shrinking to fit on a short one.
S1 — recipe foundation:
- Move .glass/.glass-card/.glass-menu into @layer components so a JSX shadow-* utility overrides the
glass box-shadow again; the ~9 dead shadow-* on glass surfaces (modals, menus, save-bar, chat) now
paint their intended drop-shadow. Perf-mode and :hover overrides stay unlayered so they still win.
- Add a .selectable recipe: the hover tint menu/list rows already use, PLUS the app-wide
focus-visible ring that was missing on non-input controls (the biggest a11y gap).
- Split the popover roving highlight from the selected state (AnchoredPopover): a selected/checked
PopoverItem now gets a ring ONLY, so its resting paint (bg-accent fill / text-accent / checkbox)
survives being highlighted instead of downgrading to a 35% tint or being recoloured. Fixes the 4
review findings deferred from R10-S0 generically; drops the leftover per-consumer data-active ring
in tableHeader.
S2 — worst offenders:
- Account-menu trigger + switch/add/sign-out rows adopt .selectable (visible keyboard focus).
- Saved-views rows: group-focus-within reveals the hover-only action buttons for keyboard users;
aria-current on the active row; focus-visible ring on every button.
- The 3 invisible-focus inputs get an accent focus ring: SearchBar + ShareDialog via focus-within on
the glass pill/row, AboutCell via focus-visible on the trigger.
Deferred to a later R9 sprint: the full unification of all ~14 selection idioms, a shared <NavItem>,
and .is-current/.chip recipes (no consumer yet in this pass).
Verified: tsc/eslint/prettier/knip/vitest (79) green; browser computed-style checks confirm the glass
shadow now wins, the focus outlines render (2px accent), and the split renders (selected ring-only,
unselected fill).
Root-fixes the opacity-modifier seed bug behind R10 S0: the theme colors were
bare `var(--x)` hex with no <alpha-value>, so `bg-accent/40`, `ring-accent/40`,
`border-border/60`, `text-muted/70`, … (~99 sites across 45 files) emitted no
CSS rule at all — latent no-ops. v4 implements the opacity modifier via
`color-mix`, so the modifier now works with the existing hex vars, no per-scheme
token duplication needed.
- `npx @tailwindcss/upgrade`: `@tailwind` directives → `@import "tailwindcss"`,
JS config → CSS `@theme` (colors, --font-sans, the z-index tokens preserved),
classname renames (rounded/shadow/blur scale, outline-none→outline-hidden,
ring→ring-2) across 56 files; PostCSS plugin → @tailwindcss/postcss,
autoprefixer removed (v4 prefixes for you).
- `@theme` → `@theme inline` (load-bearing): the color vars are redefined at
runtime under html[data-scheme]/[data-theme]; inline resolves them at the use
site so per-scheme opacity tints track the active scheme (the shadcn v4 pattern).
- Revert one codemod false-positive: it rewrote the English word "rounded" →
"rounded-sm" inside a releaseNotes.ts prose sentence.
Gate green: tsc(app+node) / eslint 0-err / prettier / vitest 79 / knip.
Verified in-browser: bg-accent/15 now computes a scheme-tracking color at 0.15
alpha across all 6 schemes × 2 themes; the hand-rolled glass border/shadow/
radius/backdrop-filter render unchanged under v4.
The platform's FloatingPortal targeted <body>, which is painted UNDERNEATH whatever
holds the fullscreen lock. That is why the player's in-bar menus were either
non-portaled (and clipped) or, for add-to-playlist / download, disabled outright in
fullscreen. PopoverSurface now portals into `document.fullscreenElement` while one
exists, via a new reactive `useFullscreenElement()` on the existing WebKit-aware
fullscreen lib.
Two floating-ui details this had to work around: a null `root` means "the container
does not exist yet" (no portal node is created at all), so the no-fullscreen case must
pass undefined; and the portal node is built once and ignores a later root change, so
the portal is keyed on the fullscreen state to remount on a transition.
Migrated the three hand-rolled hover engines onto the platform:
- Tooltip: kept as a passive caption via a new `passthrough` prop on PopoverSurface,
so it cannot swallow a click aimed at a control it overlaps during the close delay.
Gains aria-describedby wiring it never had.
- AboutCell: the 160 ms hide-timer hover bridge is now safePolygon; the close-on-page-
scroll is now hide-and-follow, so the card reappears when the row scrolls back.
- TagManager: same bridge removal; the scroll-fade moves to an inner scroller so the
mask rides the scrolling box rather than the glass panel.
Verified in-browser: tooltip flip + centering + pointer-transparency, About card flip-
above with the measured height, tag popover right-start anchoring, and the portal
round-trip body -> fullscreen element -> body on a live fullscreenchange.
Introduce lib/queryKeys.ts as the single source of truth for React Query
keys — the R7 driver was ~200 hand-written key literals across 51 files
(`["feed"]` alone in 15+), where one typo silently orphans a key so an
invalidate never matches.
S2a migrates the three highest-traffic domains (feed/video, channels,
playlists) plus the shared me/my-status/tags roots: ~90 literal sites in
18 files now call qk.*(). Pure substitution — each factory fn returns the
byte-identical array the call sites used before, so TanStack's prefix
matching is unchanged (qk.feed() still invalidates qk.feed(filters)).
Co-invalidation clusters are deliberately NOT bundled into helpers (they
differ per site), so no query's refetch scope changes.
Nullable keys (playlist(selectedId), ytSearch(q)) accept null so a null
segment is preserved (["playlist", null]) while a no-arg call is the bare
prefix key — guard is `!== undefined`.
Gate green: typecheck, eslint (0 err), prettier, 68 vitest. Smoke: app
boots, feed/facets/tags/my-status all 200, no console errors. Factory
extended to plex/messaging/admin/downloads/notifications in S2b.
- The About overlay now shows the FULL channel About (description, external links,
country, language, topics, keywords) — the same content as the detail page's About
tab, via a new shared ChannelAboutContent component (reused by ChannelPage + AboutCell)
- AboutCell fetches the channel detail ON DEMAND on hover (shared [channel,id] react-query
cache with the channel page), so the list stays light; the overlay is interactive
(scrollable + clickable links) via a small hover-bridge, and closes on page scroll/resize
- Center the content: max-w-7xl -> max-w-[96rem] on the channel tables + header, so the
wider About table stays symmetric with the header (mx-auto handles the responsive centering)
- Topic chips are display-only for now; the future search epic makes them clickable
- Backend: add channel description to the shared _channel_summary projection, so both
the subscribed list and the discovery list carry it (no migration; description is
already stored from the channels.list call)
- New AboutCell: one truncated line in the table + full text in a portalled, always-on
glass hover/focus overlay (wider than Tooltip, flips above the anchor near the bottom,
closes on scroll/resize)
- About column (after Channel) on both the subscribed and discovery tables; hidden in the
mobile card fallback
