- Playlists: a link over a playlist the account does not hold plays alone; the rail's own
fallback no longer counts as a pick that gives the player up.
- The linked opener opens or clears nothing once the address names another player, and stops
looking (and fetching its row) once it settled.
- Files: a list the server's cap cut — the sorted or searched one too — keeps the link, with a
notice of its own (EN/HU).
- History: an in-place view rewrite (search refine, count, channel to channel, sub-view)
drops a reloaded entry's overlay marks (replaceView); a landing on a channel opened from a
search keeps the search; the Feed press on a search opens the plain feed.
- Files/Playlists: an emptied search is written at once.
- Client log: plf/cf (column text filters) are typed keys; the shell has none of its own.
- Contract: writers outside lib/ take a literal or a lib/ function's result; every URL key is
sorted typed or not; the writer regexes are held by a fixture; sub-views named; the bookmark
net reads page tags.
- Feed defaults in one constant; one live-search queue helper; Scheduler writes through the
Activity codec; notRun copy (EN/HU) names Forward and a plain "Search YouTube" button.
- A URL mirror names the view again on every entry Back or Forward lands on, so a change made
under a dialog, a drawer or a sub-view is not undone by the next reload.
- A view pushed from the entry a reload under a dialog started from no longer inherits its overlay
mark; a reload under two overlays closes onto the page in one step.
- The linked player reopens over a live search, gives itself up when its list moves first, and
plays alone over an emptied playlist; a capped Files list keeps the link it cannot resolve.
- The Feed press over a channel ends the search; leaving a search ends its asked mark; Files and
Playlists searches end with their page; the feed always names its view and debounces its search.
- Search-box keys are declared per module and kept out of the client log below TRACE.
- Writers outside lib/ go through codecs; the URL contract scans computed keys, overlay writers and
two-line reads, and holds every page to a bookmark round trip (Config, Activity, Playlists and the
Files sort and viewer added).
A YouTube search is `?yt=<term>` (+ `ytn` for a non-default count), so a reload, a link
or Back/Forward reopens it. It runs by itself only where it costs no quota: the free page
scrape, a search asked for in this document, or results still cached. An API search
reopened any other way shows its term and waits for "Search YouTube again".
Home's time budget is `hb`; the question's draw stays on the history entry.
An e2e spec opens every page's bookmark in a fresh browser context; CLAUDE.md and
docs/development.md name the module URL codec as the place for view state.
The shell cleared a hand-kept key list on a page switch (it missed the Files and feed keys) and cleared
nothing when a page opened from a link carrying another page's keys. ModuleDef.urlKeys now names every
key a page's view writes, the shell derives both from the registry, and moduleUrl.contract.test holds the
declarations true: one owner per key, no shell key, exactly what each codec writes, and no undeclared
key literal in the app.
Gates the folder move had narrowed or left open: the MenuCheck contract scans the whole app again (it
saw only components/); local/layers refuses an import of an entry (main.tsx, the /watch page) from
any layer, and reads a backtick import() as the path it is; the /watch contract forbids the shell,
the modules and the features by folder (its one path to App had gone stale); chunkGuard's own test
gets the vitest focus/skip rules. The root tests' exemption from local/layers is in the gate
register, with its three imports.
Placement: Plex's chip builder moves into lib beside the feed's, the folder names into
features/folders, and three files only one page uses into that page. ui/FilterRail takes its reset
from useRail instead of a page id. The channel page reads the feed's view and builds "Show in feed"
itself, and the feed's scroll key is the feed's hook, so the shell holds no feed logic.
The floating header re-measures when one page's pills replace another's in the same commit (the
claim count stayed equal, so only the observer caught it). A Plex view applied and edited now stays
across a visit to another page, as the feed's does: pinned by a test. docs/development.md says what a
page with a rail adds in lib.
CLAUDE.md gains the header-content, module-store and saved-views rows. docs/development.md says what a
new page is and which tests hold it. components/ui/README.md names every file in the directory, and a
contract test keeps it that way: seventeen had slipped in unlisted. copyItems' comment still claimed it
was a feature file.
`local/layers` (eslint.config.js) resolves every import to its file and refuses one that goes up
(lib/ → components/ui/ → features/ → modules/ → shell/) or that reaches into another module's own
files. A module's index.ts is its public face: the stores, mounted at the root and read app-wide,
which features/ may read too; a page is still opened lazily by import(). Its contract test probes
every edge, and three mutants of the rule (off, no face check, a door for everyone) each turn it red.
Six modules got that face; the shared channel UI (about, tags, tag manager) moved to
features/channel, the filter chips and the saved-views context to features/filters, and the prefs
store's controller type moved next to the store instead of importing it from its own page. The
header's per-module controls and the eagerly loaded rails keep eight inline suppressions, each
naming why: they go when the header gets slots and every rail loads lazily.
`chunkGuard` fails the production build when a lazily imported module lands in a boot chunk (the
entry, the shell, what they import) — e.g. a page re-exported from an index.ts, which makes its
import() a silent no-op. Proved on a build with that mutant; today's build has none.
--list prints the lane names, --only "<lane>" runs that one lane, so a runner can schedule the lanes itself and a red lane can be re-run on its own. An --only run reports that lane, never the gate, and an unknown name exits 2 instead of passing with nothing run; the contract test holds both.
Both lanes printed a coverage total with no threshold (owner decision E32
D4). No real hit as a lane: the one time the number found anything (5 bugs,
E32) it was read by hand, and since then it was a line nobody acted on. It
was also the most expensive part of the vitest lane, and the run that
flaked in E35 S1. The vitest lane runs without --coverage, the pytest lane
runs plain pytest; docs/development.md gives both on-demand commands, and
the register row says why.
The production pass (7ed2ac4e, E32) asked "is this export used by what
ships?". No real hit: its only findings were 37 exports a test imports,
answered with 36 `@internal` JSDoc tags (E34 S2) — test-only exports, not
defects. Since then it has only ever asked for another tag. The tags go
with it (36, no longer read by anything), and so do the production-only
`!…!` exclusions in knip.jsonc and their register rows. Plain knip (unused
files, exports and dependencies) keeps running in the gate.
sourceSize.contract.test.ts, its test kit and backend/tests/test_source_size.py
held 13 FE / 9 BE file ceilings and 64 FE / 32 BE function ceilings. No real
hit (E34 S2/S4): its history is its own birth (751e1ae5), two rounds of
fixes to its own logic (e432dc27, d1df76e8), the snapshot move (182ec311)
and ceiling edits inside feature fixes (5806adda, df4a79a1, and the S2/S3
cuts here). It caught no defect, went red 8 times on its own limits and drew
5 review findings about itself. The numbers stay visible: audit_metrics
reports file size and complexity, and an epic compares before and after.
docs/gates.md: the two size rows go; the C901 row says where it is read now.
The Gitea Actions gate repeated, after the merge, what a release already runs
before it, and its runner shared the git host's container: one run there
starved Gitea of memory until it stopped answering. The lanes now live in
scripts/check.sh, run the same by the release dispatcher and by hand, and the
gate-contract test holds its lines (the ruff and pip-audit checks read it
instead of the workflow). The two audits only CI ran join the gate: pip-audit
over the lock (pinned in the test image, blocking at any severity) and npm
audit of the production dependencies. The engine contracts drop the CI
containers; the register records that pushes have no server-side gate.
docs/gates.md lists every place a gate deliberately checks less than it
could, each with its reason and the count measured when the row was
written:
- an ESLint rule off, at warn, or not applied, by scope;
- a weak compiler flag, a ruff ignore, the basedpyright mode and baseline;
- a knip exclusion, a lane that does not run everywhere;
- an accepted CVE.
gates.contract.test.ts reads the EFFECTIVE configuration and fails when a
narrowing has no row:
- ESLint's computed config per scope;
- the three tsconfigs, ruff.toml, pyrightconfig, pytest.ini and knip.jsonc;
- .trivyignore.yaml, where an entry also needs a statement and an expiry;
- CI's pip-audit ignores.
It also pins `--max-warnings 0`, which is what makes a warn-level rule fail.
Seen red on a missing row, a new `off` rule and an allowlist entry without
an expiry.
CLAUDE.md gains the rule E32 exists for: a gate with any real hit is never
switched off or narrowed, and an "enforced by" comment is checked by running
the check. The gate descriptions there, in docs/development.md and in
backend/app/README.md name the lanes as they now are, and the "directly"
recipe points at the full list.
- docs/DESIGN.md: the written source of truth for the UI. Decided chapters
(principles, device adaptation, action placement, text stays selectable,
interaction rules, copy, anti-patterns, decision log); controls and
surfaces are marked Pending until the owner picks from the lab.
- /design-lab (dev only): renders each open decision's variants with the
app's real CSS, themes and font scale. Batch A = six control decisions.
- devOnlyGuard: a production build fails if anything under src/design-lab
reaches the bundle (seen red with an unguarded import).
- Size contract: tablet portrait + landscape and up, replacing the
1024x768 floor with its never-built "too small" message.
The server gate ran node:22 while the dev gate ran node:24, and the two disagree about
Intl.NumberFormat's compact currency padding and about which realm's Blob a Response hands
back — so the frontend job had been red for 73 of its last 90 runs while the local gate was
green, and nothing said so.
Align everything on 24, with `.nvmrc` as the single source of truth: the CI container, the
prod build stage, `engines`, and `@types/node` (which was two majors ahead of the runtime, so
tsc was green over APIs the shipped engine does not have). The backend job's node only runs
the checkout action, so it tracks the pin as hygiene — node 20 is EOL — but deliberately
stays outside the contract.
The pin is held by a contract test that reads every one of those places AND the engine
running it, so the next drift is a red lane on its first run instead of a CI log nobody reads.
Verified on node:24-bookworm (the CI lane: 228 files / 1552 tests, typecheck, lint,
format:check, knip all exit 0) and on node:24-alpine (the prod build stage, v24.21.0, SPA
built). Each assertion of the new test was mutation-checked red.
- CLAUDE.md: new "Collaboration" section (plan-first, options-with-marked-
optimal-and-why, mockups for design decisions, challenge unsound requests,
visual UAT before done, terse otherwise).
- CLAUDE.md: clarify release is user-owned in timing, agent-run in execution.
- CLAUDE.md + docs/development.md: document the ruff format --check gate step
(already enforced in .gitea/workflows/check.yml, was missing from the docs).
- CLAUDE.md: refresh the stale footer to point at the now-existing
docs/development.md and backend/app/README.md.
The layering rule ("request-only logic in routes/; scheduler+worker-shared logic
in the plex|downloads|sync packages; cross-cutting primitives as flat core
modules; extract at the SECOND consumer") was real but unwritten — it lived only
in three module docstrings and a one-line README mention. Collect it, plus the
transaction-ownership rule (a mid-operation helper stages, the caller commits),
the atomic-counter / JobStatus-StrEnum conventions, and the one-home-per-config
rule, into backend/app/README.md. Add docs/development.md (run locally + the gate
commands + branching), so a new session/contributor has one place to look instead
of copying whichever pattern they happen to find first.
