The ~124 px-frozen text-[Npx] labels didn't track the Settings font-scale slider
while their rem-sized neighbours did. Add text-2xs (0.6875rem) / text-3xs
(0.625rem) font-size-ONLY tokens (no paired line-height -> matches the arbitrary
they replace, zero vertical-rhythm shift) and codemod every text-[Npx] to a rem
class (rare 8/9/12/13px -> rem arbitraries).
Also: --hdr-h 68px -> 4.25rem so header content clears the rem-sized pills at
scale 1.3 instead of sliding under; NavSidebar/SidePanel slot widths + their
icon/badge px sizes go rem so the rails keep pace with their (now-scaling)
labels; a w-24/h-[54px] thumb -> h-13.5 to preserve 16:9 at scale. Media
thumbnails, page-width caps and fixed container widths deliberately stay px.
Verified via getComputedStyle at scale 1.06/1.3: text-2xs 11.66->14.3px, header
clearance 72->88px, nav slot 246->302px — all scale proportionally.
- PlexBrowse PLAYABLE_TINT: transcode was collapsed onto remux's bg-warn; give it
bg-danger so direct/remux/transcode read as a distinct good->heavy green/amber/red
gradient again.
- Live indicators (VideoCard row + thumbnail badge, playlistColumns badge): revert to
fixed live-red + white instead of the --danger token. 'live' is a broadcast marker,
not an error state, and the badge sits over a thumbnail (no app-bg contrast need);
restores the conventional red/white LIVE look and decouples it from error retunes.
- ChannelPage exploring badge: drop the redundant dark:text-warn (no-op after the
token rename — --warn is already theme-scoped).
error/fatal toast shade merge left as-is (both are 'bad'; the 400/500 step was subtle).
Add theme-scoped --danger/--warn/--success (+ -fg) tokens wired into the v4
@theme inline, replacing ~110 raw red/amber/emerald/green palette refs across
34 files. Fixes light-theme contrast failures (fixed Tailwind shades fell to
~1.7-3:1 on white). Status colors are scheme-independent — recognised by hue,
shifting only by theme to hold contrast (bright on dark bg, darkened on light).
Solid fills use the paired -fg text; @source inline guarantees the full -fg set
exists. IMDb rating gold kept as a deliberate decorative non-status exception.
Root-fixes the opacity-modifier seed bug behind R10 S0: the theme colors were
bare `var(--x)` hex with no <alpha-value>, so `bg-accent/40`, `ring-accent/40`,
`border-border/60`, `text-muted/70`, … (~99 sites across 45 files) emitted no
CSS rule at all — latent no-ops. v4 implements the opacity modifier via
`color-mix`, so the modifier now works with the existing hex vars, no per-scheme
token duplication needed.
- `npx @tailwindcss/upgrade`: `@tailwind` directives → `@import "tailwindcss"`,
JS config → CSS `@theme` (colors, --font-sans, the z-index tokens preserved),
classname renames (rounded/shadow/blur scale, outline-none→outline-hidden,
ring→ring-2) across 56 files; PostCSS plugin → @tailwindcss/postcss,
autoprefixer removed (v4 prefixes for you).
- `@theme` → `@theme inline` (load-bearing): the color vars are redefined at
runtime under html[data-scheme]/[data-theme]; inline resolves them at the use
site so per-scheme opacity tints track the active scheme (the shadcn v4 pattern).
- Revert one codemod false-positive: it rewrote the English word "rounded" →
"rounded-sm" inside a releaseNotes.ts prose sentence.
Gate green: tsc(app+node) / eslint 0-err / prettier / vitest 79 / knip.
Verified in-browser: bg-accent/15 now computes a scheme-tracking color at 0.15
alpha across all 6 schemes × 2 themes; the hand-rolled glass border/shadow/
radius/backdrop-filter render unchanged under v4.
Video.status, Playlist.kind/source (+ PlaylistDetail), DownloadJob.job_kind
were bare `string`; type them as named unions verified against the backend
(VALID_STATES={new,watched,hidden}; kind user|watch_later; source local|
youtube; job_kind download|edit). VideoStatus then propagates through the
optimistic-override map, onState, and the VideoCard/VirtualFeed/PlayerModal
props — tsc now rejects a status typo (e.g. a stale "in_progress", which is a
derived filter, never a stored status) at every call site.
Prettier 3 (pinned), printWidth 100, double quotes — chosen to match the existing
hand-formatting and minimise reflow. This commit is ONLY the mechanical format pass
(`prettier --write`) plus the config/ignore/scripts, isolated so it never pollutes a
feature diff. Verified behaviour-neutral: typecheck, eslint (0 errors), and vitest
all green before and after. See .git-blame-ignore-revs — `git blame` skips this sha.
VideoCard/PlayerModal read openChannel from useNavigationActions (the memo'd
VideoCard subscribes to the STABLE actions context, so a page/channel change
no longer re-renders it); NavSidebar/Header read page/setPage; ChannelPage
reads closeChannel; NotificationsPanel reads setPage. App sheds the matching
props, and Feed/VirtualFeed no longer thread onOpenChannel at all.
Locks the five flows the refactor must not break (feed, channel, player,
settings, nav) so later sprints can prove they changed nothing. Adds a thin
data-testid layer and a dedicated seeded non-demo account; the suite runs on
the baked :8080 stack (authoritative) or :5173. No product-behaviour change.
My last commit made ROW_COL the literal source of the widths — and froze
them, because inline pixels can't follow the root font that Settings'
text slider drives (0.9-1.3). Measured at 130%: the channel box stuck at
128px while its text wanted 152 and the meta cell, being a rem grid, grew
to 156 — one row in two unit systems.
The classes come back and ROW_COL documents them, saying plainly that the
two are matched by hand and why they have to be. Chasing a comment's
literal truth cost a property I'd already verified.
The comment claimed the boxes were generated from ROW_COL. They weren't —
still w-32/w-16/w-48 by hand — so a comment promised a link that didn't
exist, which is worse than not claiming it. The boxes take the numbers
directly now (inline, since Tailwind can't read a runtime value), and the
thresholds add up in plain arithmetic rather than an IIFE whose result
depended on key order.
They were two hand-written sets of numbers describing the same boxes —
change a w-32 and the thresholds are silently wrong, the symptom being a
column appearing just before it fits. Now computed from one table (which
reproduces the old values exactly).
Width also stops reaching the four views that ignore it: it changes every
frame of a resize, so passing it everywhere pushed all of them through
VideoCard's memo for nothing.
The viewport was the wrong signal: the nav rail and filter panel move the
row's width by ~430px between them, so at a 1280 window with both pinned
every column still qualified while the row had 762px for 766px of them —
the title squeezed back to nothing, the exact bug the breakpoints were
meant to fix. My own comment predicted it and I didn't follow it through.
VirtualFeed already measures the container for colCount, so it now passes
the item's real width down. Measured in the failing config: title -4 ->
359 with the date column standing down.
It sat above the one-line row's early return but only textBlock consumes
it, so every compact row allocated it and threw it away — the same shape
I'd already fixed for textBlock and meta, crept back. Also merges a
rationale comment I'd written twice.
The xl breakpoint was a fact about the FEED's toolbar, hard-coded into
the switcher that E4's managers are meant to reuse — their rows are far
emptier and would have hidden the label for no reason. It's a prop now,
defaulting to icon-only.
The two views spans collapse into one builder, which also fixes a
regression I'd just added: splitting them put the exact-count tooltip on
the number alone, so hovering the word gave nothing.
Three from UAT: the row's cap goes 1280 -> 1472 (+15%), since with the
rail and filters hidden there was a lot of page left over and the fixed
columns mean the extra width can only go to the title; the views column
drops the word and keeps it in the tooltip (a table doesn't repeat its
unit every line), taking that column 144 -> 64; and the view switcher
names the current mode where the toolbar has room, falling back to the
icon alone below xl. Title: 431 -> 511 at 1440, 706 at 1900.
Every column but the title is shrink-0, so once the fixed widths outgrow
the row the title gives all of it: measured clientWidth 0 on every row at
a 1000px window — a table of channel, duration, views and date with no
titles. Columns now drop from the right as space runs out, least
important first, in the order the user named: title, then channel, then
the rest. Measured at 1000px: title 0 -> 351.
I'd written this off as "E15's problem, bites below ~640px" — wrong by
600px, because I only ever measured at 1440.
I set the attribute unconditionally because the one-line row truncates
hard, and never looked at the other four views — where the name fits and
the tooltip just repeated what was already on screen. It now shares the
title's clamped check.
Dropping the sr-only twin last round swapped a double announcement for
none: a bare span's title isn't dependably surfaced, so a screen reader
got no hint a row was live, a stream, or saved. role="img" + aria-label
names each marker once and keeps the hover.
The saved pip borrowed the bookmark button's label, so it read "Saved —
click to remove" on a plain span: hover, be told to click, click, nothing.
It gets its own "Saved" string. The status markers drop their sr-only
twin too — with a title already carrying the meaning, a screen reader
that surfaces title text said it twice.
The cell was a flex row, so whatever sat left pushed the rest: a 36:36
and a 3:31:09 put the marker beside them at different x, and a live video
— which has no duration at all — pulled it left again. The column edges
lined up, which is all I had checked; the data inside them did not.
Each datum now has a fixed slot in a grid, the duration right-aligned as
a number should be. The chip becomes an icon, about a letter wide: it is
the least important thing in the row, and three states have to stay apart
by SHAPE — in the youtube scheme --accent is red, so a live dot and a
stream dot would be the same dot.
Every width was measured in the English UI, but "101.7K megtekintés" is
139px against "101.7K views" at 79 — so a Hungarian user's view count
ellipsed itself in a column whose job is to show it. The channel column
gives back the room: its names truncate at any width we can afford (12
of 102 at 128 vs 5 at 160), and a clipped name still reads where a
clipped number does not.
The channel name also carries a tooltip now — it truncates hardest in
the fixed column and had no way to be read in full.
A 60-video sample topped out at 2:00:58, so the column was 8px short of
an 11-hour stream that is also saved — and the library holds one. That row
would wrap to two lines in the one layout that promises single ones.
The stacked layouts' textBlock now builds after the one-line row returns,
since only they use it.
Actions lead the row: the title is what you read, so that is the shortest
pointer trip to them. Every column after it is a fixed width, which is
what puts the same datum on the same vertical line in every row — a CSS
grid cannot do it, since VirtualFeed renders each row as its own subtree.
Widths come from measuring the real data, not from taste.
Metadata rises to the channel name's size, and the duration drops its
chip: over a thumbnail that background carries contrast against the
artwork, but in a text column it only made one data column look unlike
its neighbours.
Six buttons need 188px but the small card's text column bottoms out near
160 (its 180px column less padding), so the reset button — the only one
that is conditional, hence the only one anyone noticed — hung outside the
card by up to 15px. The buttons go tighter there (154px), and the row can
wrap as a backstop rather than clip. AddToPlaylist and DownloadButton now
take the button style as a prop so all six stay one size.
Tile actions also pin to the tile's bottom edge, so they land in the same
place whether the title above ran to one line or three.
Its column bottoms out at 180px, so its image is narrower than a row's
(measured 170px) while still carrying the 194px labelled pair — the same
overflow the row fix was for. The rule is the thumbnail's size class, not
the family: only the large card has room for labels.
The bare row becomes a single line — title truncating into the space
left, then channel, badges, meta and the actions each holding a fixed
column — and it drops the 896px reading cap, since with the actions
right-aligned there is no gap for the extra width to stretch. The
actions get a reserved slot: the reset button only exists for videos
with watch state, so without one the meta sat 32px further right on
some rows than others.
Rows and tiles get a permanent container instead of a hover-only fill.
They were transparent at rest and painted an opaque bg on hover, so
running the pointer down the list kept covering and re-revealing the
ambient backdrop — which reads as the background flickering.
Card actions now sit on the bottom edge rather than wherever the title
ends, and the small thumbnails carry icon-only controls: the labelled
Continue / Restart are sized for a card's image and were clipped at
176px.
Dropping Thumb dropped everything it draws ON the image — duration, the
live/stream badges, the saved marker and the resume bar. Those are
metadata, not decoration, so they move into the meta line and the bar
onto the row. Splits the spec's overloaded compact flag into thumb/dense,
which meant one thing per family and nothing on its own.
Tiles answer the row view's wasted space: the actions move under the meta
into vertical slack the thumbnail already reserves, which frees ~168px of
width, so the block survives in a narrow column and the list can go
multi-column. Rows stay single-column on purpose — reading down one edge
is why that view exists.
The column count now comes from a per-view minimum width, so every
multi-column view reflows on the mechanism the card grid already used.
The view mode moves out of Settings into a switcher next to sort, on the
feed and channel pages alike. It leaves the Settings prefs draft for its
own eager save: a toolbar click must not mark that page dirty and trip
its leave-page guard.
lib/feedView.ts owns the vocabulary and maps the old grid/list prefs
forward on read, so nobody's saved choice is lost.
- CollapsedFilterRail: the byte-identical 31-line collapsed sidebar rail was in
both Sidebar (feed) and PlexSidebar → one shared component.
- VideoCard: the title + channel-button + meta block was duplicated across the
list-row and card layouts → a local `textBlock` element (only one layout branch
renders, so reusing the element is safe).
- subsColumn<T>(t): the identical 'subscribers' DataTable column in Channels +
ChannelDiscovery → a generic factory in channelColumns.tsx.
All behavior-neutral; jscpd now reports 0 clones (was 8 at Phase 0 baseline).
tsc + knip green.
BUG (YB1): the auto-watch checkpoint marked a video watched once position
crossed `duration - FINISH_MARGIN` (10s). For clips shorter than ~10s that
threshold is negative, and for ~11-20s clips it's only a few seconds in, so the
5s checkpoint tick marked short videos watched almost immediately (clearing their
resume position). Cap the margin at half the clip: Math.min(FINISH_MARGIN, dur/2).
Cleanups (behavior-neutral):
- Extract format.formatDate(iso, lang) — the day/month/year toLocaleDateString
option object was duplicated verbatim in PlayerModal (fullDate) and VideoCard.
(ChannelPage's "joined" is month/year only, so it's left as-is.)
- The in-bar prev/next buttons now reuse goPrev/goNext instead of re-implementing
the step + bounds inline (they already exist for the side arrows + keyboard).
- Memoize savedPrefs so the ['me'] cache read + spread runs once, not on every
render (it only seeds the initial autoMode/loopMode state).
tsc green, knip clean, localdev boots healthy.
Give the feed card thumbnail width/height (16:9) so the browser reserves the
aspect box before load (CLS), and decoding=async so image decode never blocks
the main thread. loading=lazy was already set.
The card title is line-clamped to 2 lines; measure overflow (ResizeObserver, re-checks on
responsive resize) and set the native title attribute with the full text only when it's actually
truncated, so hovering reveals the rest without a redundant tooltip on short titles.
Frontend for the channel-explore feature:
- ChannelPage: banner/avatar/stats header, Subscribe/unsubscribe, an "exploring" badge
while browsing an un-subscribed channel, Videos/About tabs. Reuses Feed scoped to the
channel (scope=all + source=all so the per-user ephemeral videos show). Auto-ingests
recent uploads on first visit (background, with a loading note) + "Load more from
YouTube" to page deeper; skipped for demo / already-subscribed channels.
- App: openChannel/closeChannel as a Back-aware sub-view (history.state._chan, mirrors the
YT-search _yt pattern); ChannelPage takes over the content column, nav rail stays.
- ChannelLink/cards/player: the channel name now opens our channel page (onChannelFilter →
onOpenChannel); the in-card "only this channel" filter button is dropped (the page
subsumes it). PlayerModal channel-name wiring follows in the next commit.
- api: channelDetail + exploreChannel; ChannelDetail/ExploreResult types.
- i18n EN/HU/DE: channel namespace, explore_cleanup scheduler labels, explore config group,
channels_explore quota label.
- Channel-row tags show only what's attached; a '+' opens a per-channel picker. Clicking a tag
filters the feed by it; a 'Your tags' sidebar widget makes that filter visible/clearable.
- Tag manager dialog (add/rename/delete; delete only confirms when the tag is in use), reachable
from the Channel manager and the feed sidebar; hovering a tag's count lists its channels, each a
link that focuses it in the Channel manager (DataTable gains an external filter input).
- Video cards get a reset action that clears all watch state (incl. an in-progress position).
- api.req() now raises the error dialog on 5xx and 400/409/422 with the server's reason.
Live streams and upcoming/premiere videos have no fixed duration, so the
playlist row and video card left a blank where the runtime usually sits.
Show a LIVE (red) or upcoming badge instead, so it's clear the missing
time is by design, not a sync gap.
The abbreviated count (e.g. '9B' for ~9 billion) can read like '98' since the B glyph
resembles an 8. Add a title tooltip with the full localized count on the views label.
The old per-video status='saved' becomes membership in a built-in, undeletable
'watch_later' playlist. Migration 0012 moves existing saved videos into each user's
Watch later list and demotes the states to 'new'. The feed/playlist serializers now
expose a 'saved' boolean (EXISTS in watch_later); the card bookmark toggles watch_later
via new /api/playlists/watch-later add/remove endpoints (create-on-demand) instead of
setting a status. Removed the 'saved' show-filter and status. Watch later shows a
localized name and hides rename/delete in the Playlists page and add-to-playlist popover.
Add the Playlists page (left rail of playlists + detail with drag&drop reorder,
inline rename, one-step delete, remove item, Play all / row-click playback via the
existing PlayerModal) and an AddToPlaylist popover (portaled, multi-toggle +
inline new-playlist) wired into the VideoCard hover overlay and the PlayerModal.
New api client methods + Playlist types, a 'playlists' page route + account-menu
entry, and trilingual strings. Local only — YouTube sync comes in later phases.
Feed, VideoCard, Sidebar, PlayerModal, Channels, Stats, SettingsPanel,
OnboardingWizard, NotificationCenter, Toaster, ErrorBoundary and the relativeTime
helper are now fully translated in Hungarian, English and German, each with its own
locale area file (auto-loaded). Key parity verified across all three languages.
Video cards show a resume progress bar for started-but-unfinished videos and a
hover overlay: Play on every card, Continue + Restart on in-progress ones. The
in-app player now resumes from (and checkpoints to) the server position instead
of localStorage, accepts an explicit startAt (Restart -> 0), and refreshes the
feed on close so the card bar reflects the session. Sidebar gains an
'In progress' show filter.
Three low-risk wins for large filtered feeds:
- content-visibility:auto on cards (.cv-card/.cv-row) so the browser skips
layout/paint for off-screen cards; contain-intrinsic-size keeps the scrollbar
stable and is remembered per card after first render.
- memo(VideoCard) + stable onState/onChannelFilter callbacks (onState reads the
loaded list via a ref) so appending a page only renders the ~60 new cards
instead of reconciling every card already on screen.
- Prefetch the next page earlier (sentinel rootMargin 800px → 1500px) so the
'Loading more…' flash is far less likely during fast scrolling.
Channel/account avatars come from Google's image CDNs (yt3.ggpht.com,
lh3.googleusercontent.com). On a feed page dozens load at once; the CDN
rate-limits the referrer-bearing burst (429), so a random subset rendered the
browser's broken-image icon (the URLs themselves are valid — verified 200).
Add a shared <Avatar> that sets referrerPolicy="no-referrer" (which the CDNs
serve without throttling) and falls back to a neutral initial placeholder on
error instead of the broken-image icon. Use it for video-card, player, channel
manager, header and settings avatars.
- Watched: an explicit toggle in the modal (Mark watched / Watched→unmark) plus
auto-mark when playback reaches the end (within 10s, or on the ended event).
- Compact layout: drop the header bar and the redundant 'Open on YouTube' button
(the embed's own YouTube logo already jumps out); Close moves to the title row,
channel + meta share one line — fits without a scrollbar at higher zoom.
- Card actions reflect status: watched shows a double-check, saved a filled
bookmark, with matching tooltips.
- Description: new GET /api/videos/{id} exposes the already-stored description,
shown in a popover when hovering the modal title (fetched lazily).
Left-clicking a feed card (Ctrl/Cmd/middle still open youtube.com in a new tab)
opens a modal that plays the video in-app via the YouTube IFrame Player API
instead of leaving the app. Using the JS API (not a bare embed) lets us read the
playback position: it's checkpointed per-video in localStorage and on close, and
restored via the 'start' param when the video is reopened. The modal closes via
a header button, the backdrop, or ESC (ESC only while focus is on our page — a
cross-origin iframe owns its own key events).
- Add a theme-aware glass surface system (.glass/.glass-card + ambient backdrop,
performance-mode opt-out) and apply it across panels, popovers, toasts, cards,
sidebar widgets, channel rows, video cards and login.
- SettingsPanel: slide in/out animation, glass styling, wrapping pill tabs (no
horizontal scrollbar) with a prominent active state.
- Notifications: auto-dismiss can be switched off (stays until closed); the test
notification now also triggers the alert sound; resume a suspended AudioContext.
- Add an app-wide, toggleable hint/tooltip system (lib/hints + Tooltip) and wire
hints across the settings and channel-manager surfaces; persisted per account.
- Hidden view shows an Unhide action (eye icon) instead of Hide
- Upload-date filter: From/To date range (inclusive); feed shows only videos
published in that window (backend published_after / published_before)
- New sort options: Name (A-Z) and Channel subscribers, alongside date/views/
duration/shuffle
- Native controls follow the theme via color-scheme (dark date picker)
