f4m, ism, a bare m3u8 (native under hls_prefer_native) and the DASH generator fetch through the
proxy, but were dropped as if ffmpeg dialled them. The filter also took the job's postprocessor
hook, twice, and painted every guarded job "processing" before a byte arrived. Tests now hold an
allowed tunnel, the worker's own gate, the single-URL branch, and that the pipeline and the
backfill turn the gate on while YouTube does not.
The cooldown was checked before the list was found pushable and before its sync claim, so Watch later
or a list another sync held used up the push allowance. It now counts only a push that runs. The
docstring that called a YouTube mirror unpushable is corrected: its local edits sync back.
A seed past a float overflowed the shuffle's start point, and a cursor holding Infinity or a 400-digit
key overflowed its int/float read: both answered 500. The routes bound the seed (422), the start
point folds it to 32 bits, and the cursor read counts an overflow as a bad cursor (400). A plan test
holds that the walk reads ix_videos_shuffle_key with no sort over a realistic scope.
The prod iGPU has no VC-1 Advanced decode ("No support for codec vc1 profile 3"), so every VC-1
session died on the GPU and fell back to libx264, which needs ~17 s for the three warm-up segments:
a start or a seek took ~19.5 s. VC-1, XviD and DivX now take CPU decode -> hwupload -> h264_vaapi
(three segments in 5.5 s for a 1080p VC-1 remux, measured on prod hardware with this argv).
The transcode_hw facet now says whether the GPU encodes: VC-1/XviD/DivX count, and so does an HDR
film (the OpenCL tonemap runs on the GPU; the facet said software). Migration 0119 rewrites the
stored facet and re-queues 10-bit items for the HDR probe.
The player's loading, stall and error text was bare white or red on the video,
unreadable over a bright frame. It now sits on the dark panel the subtitle
notice and the track OSD already used, one constant for all three. DESIGN.md
records it and the slow-connection line.
A request hls.js got no answer to in time (no status) was taken for a server
away: a new session, the same first segment lost again, a restart every half
minute that never ended, since every session answer reset the away window.
Measured on prod: a work network at ~4 Mbit/s against 11-16 MB remux segments.
A timeout now resumes loading in the same session; the away window ends only
when media arrives (or a direct stream answers), and runs out in a 'too slow'
error. A segment gets 30 s to its first byte. After 5 s of stalling on a link
measured slower than the stream, the player says so with both rates.
Every video carries a random number drawn once (videos.shuffle_key, migration 0118, indexed with
id). A seed picks a point on that ring: the feed's Shuffle sort pages along it and wraps, and the
Home surprise reads a 500-video window of it and shuffles that window by the seed, so no video is
favoured for sitting after a wide gap. The md5(id || seed) order read and sorted the whole feed
scope on every call: ~350 ms on prod per surprise, 381-767 ms per Shuffle page on localdev, now
14 ms and 4 ms.
The Home hero's surprise tier and the Plex Discover rail were uniform draws over the unseen. They
are now weighted draws (`app.draw`, Efraimidis-Spirakis over the same md5 shuffle): a title's
weight is 1 + its affinity. Plex: the genres of the latest watched titles (half-life 180 days, a
show counts once) and the TMDB recommendations stored on them (`plex.affinity`). YouTube: the
channels the user watches (half-life 90 days). One slot of three stays a blind draw, and with no
history the order is exactly the old one. No visible change.
The YouTube draw builds its pool once (a materialized CTE read twice): the scope is ~200k videos on
a prod-sized catalog, and a second ordered pass doubled the cost. Measured on localdev: a reroll
210 -> 292 ms.
YouTube reports a 24/7 stream's archive with the years it has run (prod: 122,962,914 s), and one
such video made the Watch later total read 44,073 hours. A length past a day is now no length
(`Video.length_seconds`, LENGTH_MAX_S): the API sends none, the playlist and channel totals
leave it out and count it as `live_without_length` ("+N live" beside the sum), and the duration
filter, sort and Home budget never match it. Migration 0117 moves the duration sort indexes onto
the length expression. An AST test holds who may still read the raw column.
The migration 0110 test now ends its read before the way down: 0117 builds an index
CONCURRENTLY there, which waited for that open transaction forever.
Seen live: yt-dlp closes a connection once it has read what it needed, and the
gate printed a traceback for each. A reset ends the tunnel quietly; anything
else the gate cannot finish is a log line with its code, not bare stderr.
The URL guard judged the address the user typed; a public host's 3xx into our
network, a page's formats pointing inside, and a name rebound between the check
and the fetch all got past it, and the stored error told a live internal port
from a dead one. Every non-YouTube download now runs through an egress gate on
the worker's loopback: it resolves each host once, refuses any forbidden answer
before dialling, and connects to the address it vetted. Measured on the worker
image: yt-dlp's proxy reaches the Requests and CurlCFFI handlers, native HLS and
ffmpeg alike. Formats fetched over anything but http(s), which ffmpeg would dial
directly, are dropped, and one factory opens every yt-dlp so none skips it.
push-plan reads the live list and push reads and writes it, both against the
instance-wide budget, and neither had a limit. They now share one per-user
allowance of 20 calls per 10 minutes, far above a person's plan-then-push,
refused as playlist/push_cooldown with a sentence in both languages.
"Megnézem" (a first-person verb) and "Megnyitás" (a noun) labelled the same button by link kind;
the app's Hungarian buttons are nouns, so a video's reads "Megtekintés".
The closing popover hands the focus back to "+N" in a microtask it queues as it unmounts, after the
chip was focused (seen in Chrome; jsdom does not show it). A second focus, queued after it, wins.
- A tag counts the followed channels the Subscriptions tab shows: hidden ones are left out, and a
subscribe, unsubscribe, hide or tag toggle refreshes the count. The Tag manager's row and its
hover list count the same channels as the chip; /api/tags sends both counts under their names.
- A chip's count keeps the chip's colour after a dot (a dimmed count fell under 4.5:1). A pick in
the open "+N" fold closes it; a chip that leaves the list hands the focus to the one in its place.
The fold is a dialog of toggle buttons, not an empty menu.
- Upload: a folder name left by a press is made once the press is over, if the dialog is still
open, instead of guessing a dismissal from Modal's markup. While the folder is made, its place
holds the focus and a live region says so.
- Share: an expired link has no Copy and a warn badge; the link made on open goes into the cached
list, so a reopen makes no second one; the New link form survives the link made on open.
- Watch: a repeated Enter sends one unlock while one is on its way. See all buttons are named with
their rail.
- An unsized clip of a rotated file gets the upright size its crop cut.
- Share: a link that expired is never copied (the dialog and one-click Share pick a live one,
else make one), says it expired, and the copy-on-open claim clears on the next copy.
- A password-protected file link asks to open a file, not to watch a video.
- Upload: Cancel, the close button or the backdrop while naming a folder makes no folder; a failed
refetch keeps the target; a folder being made says so.
- Crop: an infinite number is dropped, not a 500; an unprobed clip's size follows a shown-size crop;
the edit_spec docs name frame_w/frame_h; the join and rotated paths are tested.
- Auto-skip: the wait gives way on a marker too short for it, so the skip still fires.
- Tag chips count the followed channels (subscribed_count) and a toggled chip keeps the focus.
- Continue watching's See all sorts by last watched when in progress was already on.
See all on Recently added opened Browse in whatever sort was last used, by title on the account it
was seen on. The share dialog said anyone can watch a link that may hold a zip.
The channel manager's tag chips carry a muted count. A Plex item's Info page names the file's size.
An auto-skip's countdown starts 3 s into the marker, with its button there from the start and a delay of
0 still immediate. Continue watching has a See all, opening Browse on in progress, last watched first;
Recently added's sets the watch state back so it opens what it says.
The upload dialog shows its target folder and can change it, with New folder in the same list; a
file never goes while a folder is being named or made. The share dialog puts the link on the clipboard
when it opens, says so only if the browser let it, and has Open in new tab beside Copy. A file's
format joins the line under its name.
A video stays on /watch/, anything else is given out on /file/ and a folder on /folder/. The token
is the whole key, so every path opens every link and the links already sent keep working. The new
paths are kept out of search indexes like /watch/, boot the player alone, and the unfurl card calls a
file a file.
The browser reports such a video by its shown size and ffmpeg's crop counts stored pixels, so a
frame over the middle half of a 320 stored, 640 shown video kept the whole width. A crop now carries
the size it was measured on and is scaled to the file's own pixels. A spec from before it did is cut
as it always was. Also drops a stale note in downloads/quota.py: edit jobs are held to the cap.
net::ERR_NO_BUFFER_SPACE stopped a release at its first page with nothing else running, and the
unchanged rerun passed. Every page load of the suite now goes through one helper, held by a test.
A lost stylesheet left the page unstyled until a reload, and every e2e step that finds elements by
testid still passed on it. Only axe noticed: the one-off target-size failure on eight scattered
controls. Losing the main stylesheet on purpose gives those same eight.
A quiet request leaves `live` alone, so a seek inside the old session's
range went native and the answer then jumped back to where it asked from.
`seek` now also goes by `pending`; the server-away retry had the same hole.
Comments that still named 404 for a lost session say 410, and the hls.js
retry comment now tells a finished playlist from a growing one.
The route answers 410 for a session it no longer has and keeps 404 for a segment not there yet.
hls.js retries even a 4xx on a stream with one video variant, so the player waited about half a
minute before asking again, and minutes in a throttled page.
A read with the same rows in another order never reached the screen: a
revert to YouTube, a sync or another device left the old order showing, and
the next write put it back on the server. With no write out on any list the
screen now takes it, and the undo history built on the old order goes. Own
reorders still keep theirs. This replaces the one flag all lists shared after
a rollback, and shows a reorder accepted after its list was picked again.
Also what the fourth review found: a list's reorders go one after the other,
a toast Undo asks for its place once the writes out have landed, an accepted
reorder keeps fresher rows from the cache, and a Play all disabled by the last
row going no longer strands the focus.
A reorder was invisible to the overlap bookkeeping: a failed removal reset the
screen from a cache without it, and the membership guard never corrects an order.
It now counts as a write, a rollback leaves the order to the read after the last
write, and the accepted order keeps the rows it does not name, as the server does.
Undo places come from the order on screen. A stored position landing during a write
reaches the screen, and what a read brought is taken once the refresh is in. A write
that went through drops its rows from the cache again, past a read from before it.
Closing the player after Trash took the row it opened from no longer strands the
focus: the row in that place takes it, else the header's box, else the list's menu.
The page menu's grouping row closes its menu when it goes with the view. One hidden
row gets its own wording. /search/clear refuses a body without its list.
A read from before a write no longer brings a row back: a write calls off the
read on its way, what lands while one is out stays off the screen, and the last
write out does the refresh. A failure puts back its own rows, an accepted reorder
brings back none, and an Undo reads past the cache. A list the cache has dropped
is read before a removal, so its Undo has places.
undo-move refuses the same list twice, positions cannot repeat, and undo-move
and the Plex key bodies refuse a body without their videos. Focus goes to the
header's box when the last shown row or Save this order goes.
An Esc during a pointer drag is spent on the drag and leaves the selection.
A wheel over the rail re-reads the target each frame, so a drop lands on the
row under the pointer. After a bulk removal the focus goes to the next row
left, and to the list's menu when the list is emptied.
remove-bulk names the videos that went, and its Undo brings back only those.
An Undo of a move keeps each row (and when it was saved), leaves out a video
that moved on from the target, closes up its place, and says how many came
back. Delete with every tick hidden removes nothing and says why. A list gone
before the lock answers 404, and a body without its videos 422.
One removal path now: the single row goes through the bulk one, the same
toast and undo, which also retires the add-at-position route. railDrop reuses
the store and scrollParent, the drag image the overlay and the z-index token,
and the sensors keep their number. The count is read out from a region that
outlives the band. Tests fill the gaps the review named, each seen failing.
